CIRMMT member Philippe Leroux awarded Le Prix de commande de la Fondation Simone et Cino Del Duca

Le Prix de composition musicale de la Fondation Simone et Cino Del Duca is awarded every year since 1995 on a proposal from the musical section of the Académie des Beaux-Arts. Le prix de commande is a commissioning prize of 15,000 Euros that is given to a French composer, or a composer working in France, for the creation of a short orchestral work. Le prix de commande of 2015 was awarded to composer and CIRMMT member Philippe Leroux for the commission of an original work that will be created under the Coupole of the Institut de France in the 2015 Séance Solennelle of the Académie des Beaux-Arts.

CIRMMT Collaborator Isabelle Peretz receives the 2015 Excellence Prize from Le Fonds de recherche du Québec – nature et technologies (FRQNT)

Isabelle Peretz, professor in the Department of Psychology at the Université de Montréal and a CIRMMT Collaborator, was recently awarded the 2015 Excellence Prize from Le Fonds de recherche du Québec – nature et technologies (FRQNT). It is given just once per year to highlight the "exceptional contribution of a university researcher in advancing the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering and recognizing its achievement and benefits for Quebec." In an article about the integration of music, video, and technology by Le Devoir, CIRMMT is described by Fabrice Marandola as a "Centre [that] brings it's technological expertise while the ensembles bring their artistic expertise, and by working together it gives something that we could not do by ourselves on either side."

Quasar quatuor de saxophones has been nominated for the 30th Grand Prix du Conseil des arts de Montréal for its concert combining high energy and digital virtuosity, De souffles et de machines, presented in the context of Printemps numérique and co-produced by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music, Media, and Technology.
