As a doctoral candidate in musicology at the Université de Montréal (2010), my research has been focused on the search, rescue, organization, and study of Mexican music practice. I consider the sounds to be of great significance in the formation of identity, acting as conduits through which aesthetic ideas are expressed. I maintain an active role as a thesis advisor, offering seminars and conferences, publishing articles, and most notably, producing comprehensive music catalogues. I collaborate with the International Repertory of Musical Sources (RISM), where I have uploaded nearly one thousand musical manuscripts to its database.
