Description

There has been recently a growing research interest—for analysis and preservation purposes—in the appropriation of mixed music by performers, and the composer-performer interaction.  During this RA6 workshop we will focus on these questions and organize a round table on notation of real time electronics.

This workshop on notation and performance of mixed music is part of a research project conducted by Guillaume Boutard, in the course of his postdoctoral research supervised by Prof. Caroline Traube. Video data of the performances will be collected for research on performance expertise in relation to gesture and timbre following qualitative inquiries based on interviews with traces of activity (see Cahour & Licoppe, 2010).

From this perspective, four short solo instrument mixed music studies will be presented during the workshop. Each one of them will be performed twice.

The program is the following:

  • Âpre teinte pour saxophone alto et électronique temps réel (2014, premiere)
    • Composers: Analia Llugdar & Cédric Camier
    • Performers: Marie-Chantal Leclair & Jean-Marc Bouchard
  • Piano rim pour piano et électronique temps réel (2014, premiere)
    • Composer: J-Emmanuel Filet
    • Computer music designer: Ana Dall'Ara Majek
    • Performers: Daniel Áñez García & Romain Pollet
