Workshop on measurement techniques and software tools to aid music instrument makers

This workshop is organized by CIRMMT Research Axis 1 (Sound modeling, acoustics and signal processing). It will take place on Friday, October 18, 2013, in A832 (New Music Building). This workshop is free and open to all. Registration is required.

Description

This workshop will focus on recent efforts to bring scientific tools and methodologies to the aid of music instrument makers.  It is organized in conjunction with the Distinguished Lecture of René Caussé, who in recent years has worked on several related research projects, including "Modular Platform for Assisted Instrument Construction (PAFI)" and "Global Acoustic Conception of Reed Musical Instruments, In Tune and Homogeneous (CAGIMA)." Presentations will also include a preliminary report on measurements conducted for Godin Guitars.
