The overall management of CIRMMT is the responsibility of the Board. While the Director and Associate Directors oversee the day-to-day management and operations of the Centre, the board approves CIRMMT’s research direction and priorities, its membership, and global decisions regarding its budget and resources. The Executive Committee is responsible for CIRMMT's policy decisions and resource allocations. In the event of an extended absence of the Director, the Executive Committee nominates an Associate Director to manage the Centre. The International Advisory Council provides counsel on collaborative research, research evaluation, articulation of an international research agenda, and development.

Executive Committee
The Executive Committee meets once a month and is responsible for CIRMMT's policy decisions and resource allocations. The term of appointment of Executive Committee members is for three years and is renewable. The membership of the Executive Committee includes the Director and the two Associate Directors and an Associate Dean from the Schulich School of Music. Additional members representing the research axes are included to ensure adequate representation of the Centre's research themes.

International Advisory Council
The International Advisory Council is made up of internationally renowned innovators and researchers in the realms of the arts, sciences and technologies of sound and music and has has artistic, scientific/technological and industrial branches. The International Advisory Council provides counsel on collaborative research, research evaluation, articulation of an international research agenda, and development. The terms of appointment of International Advisory Council members is normally for three years and is renewable. Membership is subject to approval by the Board of Directors.

CIRMMT Student Representatives
CIRMMT's student representative is elected by the student membership and serves on our Board of Directors. The student representative is responsible for chairing the Student Executive Committee (composed of up to eight axis student coordinators), and for developing new student-initiated activities within the Centre. The student representative consults with students on a regular basis to ensure that their concerns are brought to the Executive Committee and to the Board.
