Workshop on body tracking in challenging environments

This workshop is organized by CIRMMT Research Axis 4 (Multimodal immersive systems) and the Institut Arts Cultures et Technologies (iACT). It will take place on September 23, 2010 at the University of Montreal. This workshop is free and open to all. Registration is required.

Description

Human body tracking is an almost solved problem under idealized, controlled environments, but remains a formidable challenge for the demands of the real-world, in particular, involving artistic applications with many individuals in dynamic spaces.  The demands increase further when body gestures must be tracked, as issues of occlusion and sensor noise come into play.  This workshop explores a number of applications in which tracking technologies have been integrated, and the experiences of the practitioners in deploying them.  A series of demonstrations, held in the afternoon will provide practical exposure to some of the issues and opportunities arising from this field.
