Robert Wechsler will present two days of intensive workshops discussing the use of motion tracking technology to control sound synthesis, with a particular focus on the creation of the synaesthetic experience of "hearing movement." Among the work he is presenting is an 8-channel interactive rhythmic environment by Spanish composer Pablo Palacio. Different conceptual approaches will be discussed, and participants will be guided through the creation of their own software patches for controlling sound through movement. Participants from music performance, composition, music therapy, interactive dance, music psychology, perception, and human-computer interaction are all welcome.
